Stewart praises Ivy's leadership against 'Nova

West Virginia football coach Bill Stewart praised strongside linebacker Mortty Ivy at Monday's Big East Teleconference.

Ivy finished the 48-21 Saturday opening conquest of Villanova with 5 tackles, a sack, a half-tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and an interception. He returned the fumble and interception for a combined 59 yards.

But the senior's leadership was the point of Stew's remarks now that the Mountaineers are 1-0.

"Mortty showed great leadership for the team, not just defense. That's why we took him up to Rhode Island for the Big East media day," said the head coach.
