Brock talks TCU
Several weeks have gone by since Copperas Cove linebacker Tanner Brock made his commitment to TCU. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is regarded as not only one of the top inside linebackers in the state, he is also among the nation's best.
Brock is already wrecking havoc on the opposition early this season as he has helped the Dawgs to a 2-0 record including last week's 41-20 win over Waco. In the game Brock recorded 13 tackles and 1 forced fumble. On the year he has accounted for 31 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 6 quarterback hurries.
Purplemenace.com brings you the exclusive interview with the player that has Frog fans from all over ready to see Brock in purple.
What was it about TCU that led you to making a commitment to them?
"TCU was one of the first schools to offer, and unlike some of the others they never pressured me for a commitment. i just feel really comfortable and know that it's the place for me."
Obviously Logan(tight end) is already at TCU, how much of an influence did that factor into your decision?
"I don't know how much it influenced me necessarily, but it definitely helped to have an honest first person view of what TCU is and what things are like."
How well do you think you fit in to the Frog defense? Basically what is your strength?
"I feel I fit really well, their inside linebackers are allowed to run free and make a lot of plays, a lot like here at Cove."
What was the worst part of the recruiting process for you?
"I can't think of a worst part, but if I had to I'd probably say it has been the waiting after the commitment. Now that I've decided where I want to be I want to get there now."
What was the best part of the recruiting process for you?
"Getting to know so much about all the different colleges that were recruiting me."
What are you hoping to accomplish once arriving at TCU?
"Like everyone else I'm sure, I want to come in and play early, get my degree and hopefully move on to the next level. But more than that , I want to make an impact on the TCU program, help its maturation to BCS."
We've heard you plan on graduating early, is this true and why?
"Yes, I'll be on campus starting in January, I want to get that early jump on all my competition, a whole semester means a lot and will help me to play early."
Your team is 2-0, who do you have this week and what are your goals for this game?
"This week we have McKinney Boyd out of Dallas, and we played them last year and know what they are capable of. As far as goals go, I have to work on my footwork and all the little things but more importantly winning."
What are your goals for the season?
"My main goal is to help make the Dawgs as good as we can be, we have more potential than has been around Cove in quite awhile, but its up to us how things turn out."
Any words for Frog fans?
"Can't wait 'til January when I get to be a Frog officially. Plan on big things happening and making the BCS a reality."
