Croom's Monday Teleconference

Sylvester Croom understands what it is going to take to defeat the Auburn Tigers this week.

Croom's Bulldogs won 19-14 on the plains at Auburn last year and knows how much effort it will take to repeat the process this week.

"This is a really big game for us and a good opportunity for us," Croom said. "Auburn is a great challenge and an excellent football team. We need to play our best to have a chance to win the football game."

The Tigers enter the game at 2-0 after knocking off Southern Miss 27-13 last week while Mississippi State comes in at 1-1 after a convincing 34-10 victory over Southeastern Louisiana. Saturday's game will be the first Southeastern Conference game for both opponents.

"It's our first conference game and it's a big game," Croom said. "It would really give us a boost of confidence as far as us moving forward in the year. It's exciting and we're looking forward to playing Auburn. They have such a tradition and we have a great deal of respect for them. You just look forward to playing good football teams. This is why you want to be in the Southeastern Conference to play games like this."
