Relf in the mix at quarterback
There could be a hidden card up Sylvester Croom's sleeve Saturday and that wild card could be Chris Relf.
Croom announced following Thursday's practice his intention on playing all three quarterback this weekend against LSU. Relf is listed at No. 3 on the depth chart behind Wesley Carroll and Tyson Lee.
"We'll play multiple quarterbacks," Croom said. "We will probably play all three. I'll just go with my gut again and then go from there. We definitely intend on using two of them but we will probably use three of them. That's the plan is to use all three of them. We will use all three of them in different roles."
When asked who would be the starter among that group, Croom steered clear of the question even when pressed if Carroll would start the game.
Carroll has started all four games under center this season completing 51-of-96 passing for 528 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions while Lee has seen action in three games hitting on 30-of-45 passing for 291 yards with no touchdowns or picks.
Relf's only action of the season came in mop-up duty during the Southeastern Louisiana game where his only career pass attempt fell incomplete.
"There are certain things that Chris does pretty well," Croom said. "One of the things when we signed Chris is that he was a one year quarterback out of high school. He is very athletic and has a big arm and runs the ball very well. We planned to bring him along at a slow pace because we felt like we didn't want to put him in a situation where he wouldn't have success early on so he can get some confidence. In a limited capacity, I think he can help us."
