Toppers put UK in context and behind them

Saturday's loss was obviously a less than desired outcome than anyone associated with WKU would have liked.

The Toppers' were non-existent in many phases, including passing, where they finished with just 15 yards, between sophomore quarterback KJ Black and senior David Wolke, who played the last series.

Out of the muck however, came a shining light for the future, in redshirt freshman running back Bobby 'make it' Rainey. Though limited to just 11 carries for 30 yards and getting the ball in just two games, Rainey was nearly the sole form of ball movement at UK.

Rainey finished with 256 all-purpose yards (99 rushing, 149 yards on kickoff returns and eight yards on punt returns), while WKU amounted 157 yards of total offense.

Rainey and senior linebacker Ben Sowders went over the game with the media today and talked about coming back from that loss.

Though not accompanied by a usual assistant coach today , coach David Elson also went over what went wrong at UK and how the Toppers plan to fix it, as well as looking ahead to Virginia Tech.
