White wins Bulldogs scrimmage, 114-94
Mississippi State held its first open scrimmage Saturday and gave the 703 fans inside Humphrey Coliseum a show.
The White squad won the scrimmage 114-94 led by 34 points by Dee Bost. The scrimmage format was two, 20-minute halves followed by a 8-minute game.
Bost ran the point the entire way for the white squad and finished the scrimmage 13-of-21 from the floor and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Bost also dished out four assists and had a steal.
"He didn't show me anything that I hadn't seen from him the first day I saw him," said Bulldog head coach Rick Stansbury. "He does the same thing every day. He can impact the game whether he ever shoots the basketball. That's what you like. He has the ability to shoot it or score it. Every body knows that if you run the floor that he will get you the ball. I'm highly pleased with the way Dee Bost is playing."
The leading scorer in the game was Rayvern Johnson, who combined to score 35 points suiting up for both squads. Johnson was 13-of-22 from the field and also drained two treys.
"I came out and air-balled my first shot," Johnson said. "I had to get the jitter bugs off me. After I did that I got in the flow and hit a couple of shots."
Stansbury was impressed with the progress Johnson has made since last season.
