Will Pierre Bell play against UTEP?

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Sources close to the program tell PI that Pierre Bell will likely sit Senior Day out due to medical reasons.

Recovering from a whiplash type concussion on a non-contact tackle situation a week ago at UAB, Bell sat out of practice all week in an effort to be ready for Friday's game against UTEP(5-6/4-3 C-USA).

But on five days rest, it appears likely that the Vanceboro senior will be saved and allowed to fully recover before next week's Conference USA title game is played on the road against a West Division winner to be determined on Saturday immediately following the ECU game when Houston takes on Rice on CBS College Sports at 3:30 EST.

Both Rice and Houston are 6-1 in C-USA play as is Tulsa who takes on Marshall.

East Carolina(7-4/5-2 C-USA) looks to get to the eight win mark when the Pirates take the field in their first ever home meeting
against the Miners, albeit with a lot of starters unavailable for participation due to injury and earlier suspensions.

If Bell can't go, look for ever improving walk-on Dustin Linebeck or possibly New Bern converted linebacker Chris Mattocks to get the start in Bell's place.

It's the 742nd football game in the history of Pirate football and the 49th game of the Skip Holtz era at ECU when the Pirates take on the Miners of UTEP.

CBS College Sports will provide television coverage with Tom Hart and Brian Jones calling the action along with radio coverage
on the 17 station Pirate-ISP network with the voice of the Pirates Jeff Charles and Kevin Monroe in the booth along with Marty Feurer on the sideline.

It's Black Friday and Senior Day in Greenville. We hope you enjoy the ballgame.
