Hollingsworth stays the course

Josh Hollingsworth committed to Mississippi State early on in the recruiting process and told other schools that it was a done deal.

When the news came Saturday morning that Sylvester Croom resigned, Hollingsworth began to wonder what would happen next.

But a call from assistant coach Louis Campbell on Sunday night helped put the three-star quarterback's mind at rest.

"Coach Campbell called me (Sunday) night," Hollingsworth said. "He told me that all of our scholarships are going to be honored and that they still really want me there no matter who the coach is. That put me at ease a lot because I committed back in March and I told schools I wasn't interested because I was going to Mississippi State. That got me really worried."

Hollingsworth could hardly believe the news that Croom had resigned when he found out.

"My mom came in and woke me up and told me," Hollingsworth said. "I really didn't believe her at first but I got on the internet and started checking around and everything and it was true. It was real surprising. It happens all the time but it's never really affected me. It's just real surprising and real new to me."

The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder said he was anxious to see who the next coach would be.
