Naples to decide soon

Somerville, New Jersey tight end Mike Naples committed to East Carolina in early September but it wasn't long before he decided he wanted to take another look at Boston College. The Eagles' interest picked up in the three-star prospect and they hosted Naples during his official visit this weekend.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect last visited East Carolina for the Pirates' home game against Memphis and came away feeling good about the school he committed to.

Nonetheless, he felt compelled to check out Boston College to make sure he was making the right decision.

"I had a good time up there (at BC)," Naples reported on Sunday afternoon after returning home. "Everything went well. The coaches were just telling me that they'd like to have me up there.

"I should be ready to make my decision within the next couple of days. It's just going to be between ECU and Boston College."

Those two schools are in different regions, offer different areas of focus for academics and play in different leagues, so you would think there is a lot that differentiates them. For Naples, however, there are a lot of commonalities.

"They each have a lot of the same selling points. Both have good football programs and play in good conferences. One difference is that the academics at Boston College are better, but I like both of them. I really like the coaches at both schools."

Naples will not be taking any more visits before he goes public with his decision early this week.

Naples is ranked the No. 45 tight end in the nation by Rivals.com, and is listed as the No. 23 prospect in the Garden State.
