Top junior prospect hitting the books

Waco Midway just ended its most successful season in school history by advancing to the fourth round of the playoffs where they lost in the regional quarterfinals to Longview.

The 12-2 Panthers were led by a defense that allowed 17 points or less in all but four games during the season, quite an accomplishment in an age of high school football where the spread offense and shootouts are the weekly norm. One of the leaders of Midway's defensive effort was free safety Ahmad Dixon who is the epitome of a safety that plays the position likes a centerfielder. Playing man-free coverage in Midway's defense, he followed his instincts to 114 tackles, eight passes defensed, four interceptions, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles in earning First-Team All-District, Super Centex and Second-Team All-State honors.

Now, Dixon is one of the top junior prospects in the state of Texas. He has already received offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Arkansas and had college coaches from across the country coming through Midway during December to get a glance at him. Many more are writing letters asking him to come for unofficial visits.
