Williams looking forward to Ole Miss visit

It's been a busy week for Tallahassee (FAMU), Fla., defensive end Alex Williams.

It's about to get busier.

Williams, a three-star prospect who is coveted by Ole Miss and Arkansas, received in-home visits Tuesday from Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino and Ole Miss recruiting coordinator/cornerbacks coach Chris Vaughn.

On Friday, after he plays in a basketball game against city rival Rickards, Williams will head to Ole Miss to check out the Rebels.

"It went well," Williams said of his busy Tuesday. "Coach Vaughn talked to my mom after the (FAMU High basketball) game. Coach Petrino talked to her before the game. Everybody is being pretty patient with me. Of course, (Arkansas) wants me to go ahead and commit. They don't want me to take that (Ole Miss) visit, but I have to go.

"(Ole Miss) said they're going to out-do what I previously saw (at Arkansas two weeks ago). They're competitors. That's all they want to do. They want to out-do Arkansas."

Williams might not be finished visiting when he gets back from Oxford Sunday. Next weekend, he's planning to take an official visit to Florida A&M.

"FAMU is still in the running," Williams said. "I know so much about FAMU that a lot of people really don't know. I'm going to take them into consideration just like I am Arkansas and Ole Miss.

"Right now, currently, Arkansas is the leader and I did like what I saw. Ole Miss, they may be the leader after my visit there. However, that doesn't mean I'll end up choosing them. That doesn't mean the program is going to be the best for me. FAMU, the visit probably won't mean anything because I know so much about them already."

As for his final decision, Williams said he won't announce it until National Signing Day on Feb. 4. He might need that long to make up his mind.

"I don't have an idea," Williams said. "I really don't. I'm trying to wait until everything is said and done."

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt, Williams said, will take his one allotted in-home visit to Williams' home sometime next week.
