Three-star returns from USC

It appears that one player out of the class of 2009 will stay put and not make the fan base of the school he's committed to have a meltdown as so many other schools have suffered in this very unusual class, still his head coach didn't want to speak out of turn and give a 100 percent commitment that his student-athlete will sign, but he came very close.

The player in question is three-star linebacker/defensive back Chris Metcalf (6-2, 183, 4.6) from Compton, Calif.

"Everything went great on his visit," Compton coach Calvin Bryant said. "Chris told me that USC treated him very well. He loved his trip and enjoyed everything about it."

When pressed for confirmation that Metcalf will sign with USC on Wednesday, Bryant wasn't ready to do that.

"I don't want to put words in his (Metcalf) mouth," Bryant said. "There are a couple more days and you never know what will happen."
