Brown picks up huge offer
Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O'Hara running back Corey Brown is, without a doubt, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2010. A quick look at his early offer list is good evidence of that.
The 6-foot, 171-pound junior from the Keystone State had received scholarships from just about every major program in the nation going into this week.
As a matter of fact, there was really just one more offer he was hoping for. On Wednesday he learned that the wait is over.
"I got offered by Alabama today," Brown said. "I had a feeling it was going to be on the way. I had to call them and coach Nick Saban just told me they were putting it in the mail.
"I like Alabama a lot. I've liked them ever since day one, really. I definitely think I'm going to go to their spring game."
Brown has been impressed with the turnaround Saban is orchestrating in Tuscaloosa, both on the field and when it comes to recruiting. He had a chance to speak with him on Wednesday and came away impressed.
"I was on the phone with coach Saban and he was first just talking about the school and all. Then he told me they were sending a scholarship out to me now. They just had to get my information and all that.
"I definitely like (Saban) a lot. He got them to the number one (ranking) out of nowhere. The year before they had a decent team but this year they were really good. I watched their bowl game and that wasn't their best game, but they're going to be really good."
Brown said the Georgia coaches recently told him that they were putting an offer in the mail as well.
Now that he has received offers from just about all the schools he wanted them from, where does he go from here?
"I think I'm going to try to get to West Virginia, Ohio State and definitely Georgia," he said. "I think I'm going to try to get down to those places and some others for some basketball games or spring practices. Mostly I want to go to spring games, though.
"I haven't narrowed it down yet. I'll do that after I start taking some visits."
