Wake Forest the latest offer for Houston

Buford, Ga. two-way lineman Kolton Houston has seen offers steadily arrive in his in-box, beginning in the fall and extending steadily into the spring. The latest offer for Houston recently came from Jim Grobe and Wake Forest.

"I just got off the phone with the coach," Houston said. "That's new interest. I got a couple of handwritten letters and supposedly they offered me about three weeks ago but my coach never gave it to me. I had no idea until one of my coaches asked me why I hadn't called."

The new offer is one that Houston will be looking into due to several appealing factors.

"I'm very interested in them and I know they have a very good academic program," he said. "I really believe that they're a program that is on the rise. They have an outstanding academic program and I'm going to look into them deeper."

Recently, Houston attended a junior day at the University of South Carolina. The Gamecocks have been one of his favorites since they offered back in the fall and the visit only reinforced that interest. It also offered him some more options he didn't know he had.

"They first offered me for defense but the new offensive line coach told me that I can play offense too," he said. "That's nice to have options and know I can play either one. I'd prefer to play offense, that's what I'd prefer but if I'm better at defensive I can play defense too."

South Carolina isn't the only school offering Houston that kind of flexibility. Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech are all offering him similar options.

This weekend, Houston will continue his college tour with a visit to Clemson. Following that trip, he hopes to begin to take some trips with a more personal feel.

"I'm going to Clemson on Saturday and I guess after that Clemson I'm just going to go up on weekends with my parents visiting schools and just getting a better feel for them. I'd like to go ahead and commit by the end of May but I'm not in a rush. If I can I want to but if it's not right, and I haven't found the right school, I will wait."

One thing that Houston will not be doing is flip-flopping with his decision.

"I can tell you this, when I commit, I'm staying. I'm not going to be one of these guys that decommits. That's why I want to be 100 percent sure."
