Saunders has found the spotlight
Just a few short weeks ago San Antonio Madison defensive back Tommie Saunders wasn't much more than a name on the Mavericks' star-studded roster. And while names like Nate Askew, Kris Catlin, and Aaron Green are familiar to most college recruiters it's taken a bit longer for the 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety to get his due, he now has seven offers from some of the biggest names in the country.
On Wednesday he picked another offer to join the likes of Oklahoma State, Houston, Florida State, LSU, Missouri, and Texas Tech.
For a few weeks Saunders had been trying to get in touch with the Sooner coaches but apparently they negated the need to.
"They actually tried to get in touch with me yesterday but I wasn't at school. The called again today and coach (Jim) Streety got me and I had a chance to talk with Bobby Jack Wright," Saunders explained. "He was just telling me that they want me up there and that I'm the kind of guy that they want on their defense."
