Scrimmage Insider: Defense shows signs of life

For the first time this spring, Mickey Andrews' defense shows some real fire. After being pushed around in the first two spring practice scrimmages, the Seminole defense came out with greater intensity and it showed in the first few series.



In the first nine plays from scrimmage, the defense held Jimbo Fisher's offense to a total -10 yards and forced a holding call. The stout defense was thanks in large part to three tackles for loss, including a sack by linebacker Nigel Carr.




"They were fiery," Bowden said of the defense. "Their enthusiasm has been good all year but maybe it was a bit more today than it was in the past... The tackling was probably better. They punished the runners pretty good today."
