First day in pads is a hit
Third day of practice and the first one in pads is in the books. The team is a year older and it shows. While they are still young and mistake prone, you can see that this has the makings of a solid football team down the road because there is a definite upgrade in talent. Coach Rick Neuheisel was upbeat after practice, but acknowledged mistakes made, but hey, it is only the third day.
Neuheisel: "We had a good practice. We are still making too many mistakes to be proficient as an offense, but that is something that's going to happen when you're dealing with so many young players, but we have to grow up quickly and we have to coach it better with respect to making sure guys know what they are doing so that we can grow as an offense and gain some confidence as an offense, but that's what's got to happen here over the next week. We're going to be here Monday and Tuesday and after Monday and Tuesday, we will be one third through the spring practice. So we will make some evaluations then."
You said for the first few days that Richard Brehaut and Kevin Prince would get the most reps. What do you see in them?
Neuheisel: "I like them both and I think both of them have done enough things to merit the way we felt about them and so I am looking forward to seeing them both continue to progress and we will decide how we divvy up the rest of the reps as get back to work on Monday."
