Hawkeyes offer Detroit LB

Among the visitors in Iowa City this past weekend was Detroit linebacker Ishmael Thomas. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Thomas, who made the trip with his family, was in town mainly to get a closer look at the Hawkeyes during spring practice, but before he left he also had a new scholarship offer in hand.

Iowa is the third school to offer Thomas, joining Central Michigan and Ball State. He is also receiving interest from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt, among others.

As a junior, Thomas collected 74 tackles, 18 TFL, and two interceptions playing on a very talented defense at Renaissance High School in Detroit. The Hawkeyes project the junior at outside linebacker in college.
