Grimble Finally Sees Norman
In years past when a Las Vegas Bishop Gorman Gael came to Norman to take part in a Sooner event he was most likely making one of many trips. However, when the nation's No. 1 tight end Xavier Grimble showed up on Oklahoma's campus he was looking at each facility for the first time.
It seems that even though the 6-foot-6, 245-pound prospect, who is rated by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 39 overall prospect came to Norman with some very serious expectations and the trip exceeded each.
"I had a really good trip down there I must say I was really impressed with everything, the coaching staff, the players, the campus, just everything," Grimble said. "I came Friday night and it was kind of late, so we went around 8 p.m. over to the stadium, Kevin Wilson, Bob Stoops, and just talked it up a bit.
"On Saturday we went to the game. Well we had lunch and then went to the game, and everything. After that, well I've known Quinton Carter for a long time. His parents were in town so after the game went to his house. Demarco Murraycame by, Jermaine Gresham came by and I was talking to a couple of those guys."
"We left on Sunday but actually in the morning we went back, and met with coach Wilson and coach Stoops and just kind of went over a few things."
Grimble certainly made a point to spend some time with Oklahoma's offensive coordinator and head coach but as a high school guy was obviously going to end up spending time around the long list of high school prospects in Norman this weekend.
According to the Gorman star each conversation starts the same but at Oklahoma he and a few others couldn't help but talk about the possibilities of lining up together.
