Maiava anchors the line

One of the reasons that the offensive line has shown some improvement has been the play of sophomore transfer Kai Maiava. He has been a steadying influence on the offensive line this spring.

UCLA head coach, Rick Neuheisel said that Maiava has been an "upgrade" along the offensive front. BruinBlitz.com was able to get a few moments with Maiava after a recent practice.

BruinBlitz.com: Kai how does it feel to finally get back out and run with the offense instead of leading the scout team?

Maiava: "I'm just glad to be out here with my teammates and everything. It feels good to finally get back on the grind. Last year was tough for me to watch us to go down the way we did, but we're looking good out here and hopefully we can pick it even more."

BruinBlitz.com: What do you like so far about the spring camp?

Maiava: "I think we are coming together more as a team. I've have noticed a lot more bonding between the teammates. We are working as one. There's more communication. It's just whole different team, it feels like."
