Neuheisel on the scrimmage

The Bruins had their second scrimmage of spring. Once again defense was the story with another dominating performance from the defensive front. It was the pressure that forced the offense to turn the ball over. Coach Rick Neuheisel met with the media to answer questions regarding the scrimmage.

Neuheisel: "Good day, we slugged it out. We ran the ball, a lot, which was kind of the aim, especially with the running back situation being where it is. It was a great learning experience just for our quarterbacks. We had too many turnovers, which has been our plague, but when we figure out how to protect and we figure out how to throw the ball down the field, we are going to be alright. Our running game is coming along. I like what I am seeing there.

"Defensively I am very proud of the first group especially in terms of how hard they're playing and getting guys off the field. It's outstanding."

Any idea of what happened to Kai Maiava?

Neuheisel: "It was an ankle strain. We will see, hopefully we can get him back next week. Sometimes it is more scary than it is hurt, so we will see how that turns out."
