Last practice of spring in the books

The last spring practice on Spaulding Field was highlighted by the visit of one of the greatest Bruins of all time, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who talked to the team after practice. There was a glimpse of the future as recent signees, Xavier Su'a Filo, Greg Capella and Marlon Pollard were all on hand to take in the last practice.

Su'a Filo will be in town for the spring game and he already looks like he's ready to compete. It is obvious that he has been working exceedingly hard. Capella and Pollard, too passed the eyeball test.

On another not, all of the team's seniors exchanged their helmets for a whistles as they were coaches for a day.

Neuheisel: "We had an interesting day today. We made all of our seniors coaches for the day and I think they gained appreciation for our side of the fence and also hopefully had a memorable day on their last day on Spaulding Field for spring practice.

"We are looking forward to the scrimmage. We will try and get as much work as we can there and look forward to that evening that nice celebration as I told you before, Dick Vermeil and Terry Donohue will both be there and hopefully get a chance to address the crowd. It should be a nice evening for UCLA.

"On the downside, Frank Gansz Jr. missed practice today. His father is critically ill in Dallas with complications with surgery yesterday and so we send our prayers to Frank and his family and wish them the very best, but he won't be back for the scrimmage so we won't do a lot of special team work in that scrimmage other than field goal and extra point.
