McDevitt WR chooses Big East

The Pitt Panthers have had some success at Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pa. in recent years. Players like Aaron Berry and LeSean McCoy have played big roles at Pitt and now another McDevitt prospect is headed to Western PA.

"I committed to Pitt," said 6-foot-4, 180-pound wide out Salath Williams. "I really like the style of offense, it's a great city and they have a great tradition for wide receivers. Larry Fitzgerald is the man and they've had many other good ones."

Williams chose Pitt over Iowa and Purdue and the Panthers being his first offer went a long way.

"I went to a 7-on-7 tournament there last summer and they started recruiting me early," he said. "They showed the most interest in me from the beginning."

Williams spoke to Berry at length about his experience at Pitt.

"He said it was wonderful there and that's important because he knows where I come from," he said. "To know someone else who went from McDevitt to the same place is comforting."

As a junior, Williams caught 49 passes for 899 yards and 11 scores.
