RB Felder watching stock soar
Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway all-purpose back Brendon Felder has long been believed to be one of the top skill position prospects in Pennsylvania. Now he has the offer list to prove it.
The 5-foot-11, 163-pound rising senior may not have an imposing physical figure but his presence on every field he steps on looms large.
He recently attended a camp at North Carolina and said the event went very well. It's clear, at least to Felder, that there is a mutual interest between the two parties.
"I think it went well," he said of the event in Chapel Hill. "I performed real well in front of the offensive and defensive coaches. I think I was one of the top prospects there. I talked to all of the coaches while I was there. I think I basically talked to all of them. They were all surrounding me after the camp and said I did real well. After that I got a scholarship from them so I guess it went well. I got to talk to coach Butch (Davis), and that was good. After the camp they had me catch some punts from the machine."
The trip gave him a very positive impression of what the ACC school has to offer.
"I would say UNC is real high on my list. I just like the atmosphere and all the coaches. That was probably the first place where I went and all the coaches were right there talking to me, telling me about the school. I met a couple of the players and I just loved the campus. It's a beautiful place."
Felder and his Gateway teammates recently returned from a 7-on-7 event at Maryland as well. He said he received an offer from the Terrapins after the conclusion of that. He also attended a camp at Cincinnati and said the Bearcats extended a scholarship as well.
"I think most schools are probably looking at me as a cornerback," Felder said. "I've got most of my offers from people saying they want me to play corner. The last few have been saying slot receiver, though."
Felder said he is not 100-percent sure what his July schedule looks like just yet, though he would like to head over to Boston College in a couple of weeks. He said he is already planning on visiting Boston to see a couple of his good friends, so he might as well take a trip to the school.
"At this point I don't think I have any tops right now. Since I've been playing football with my team and now I have a couple of weeks of, I'm gonna take this time to try to narrow it down to a top five or so. I would say I might want to make a decision and get it over with before the season starts. That's not really definite, though. It could be before or after then."
