Five-star PG has Duck interest
While most Oregon recruiting fans focus on football, Ernie Kent tends to have his recruiting process overlooked. Should the Ducks become a serious contender for premier point guard Josh Selby, their attention will become more divided.
"We have not made a list yet so Josh's recruitment is still wide open," said his mother Maeshon Witherspoon. And with that statement it's obvious that one of the nation's premier point guards won't be making a decision anytime soon. Selby of course is a 6' 1", 180lb. point guard out of Baltimore, Maryland. He's a five-star rated player by Rivals, the nation's number two point guard. He's a player who just flat out makes everyone around him better and is devastating once he gets into the lane.
After stating that the recruitment is wide open, she did confirm that there's some mutual interest between the Oregon program and Selby. "I think yes, he has some interest in Oregon. I can't say that it's more than some other schools though because it's still early and there is some interest in a lot of schools. Right now his recruitment is really wide open."
Oregon of course, has recently sent two guards to starting spots in the NBA, but aside from that, there are some things of interest to them about the Duck program. "Actually, I know that they want a point guard. We know they have a great football team and Josh has talked about how he likes that. And we know there's a strong Nike connection. We're in the process of doing our research on schools though, so that's why I say no school leads right now and we're just learning everything we can."
