In the first scrimmage of the preseason, the linebackers were notoriously quiet. In fact, other than backup Nigel Carr, nobody from Chuck Amato's group cracked the top 10 in tackles.

There was a dramatic shift for the linebackers on Saturday.

"Let's just say we had a stern talking to by coach Chuck (Amato)," senior linebacker Dekoda Watson said. "We took that to heart. We don't want that any more. We watched film and we tried to capitalize on our mistakes. That's what we tried to do and I think we did that today."
