Four-star enjoys scrimmage

It seems funny to say that a four-star prospect is seeing his stock increase higher, but that is what is happening for safety/running back Dietrich Riley (6-1, 200, 4.47) from La Canada (Calif.) St. Francis. He has steadily racked up offers from big time schools coast-to-coast. Why is easy to understand, he has the athletic ability to be an impact player at least three positions.

Riley was one of the stars who took in UCLA's scrimmage on Saturday Night.

"I definitely had a great time," Riley said. "I was kind of bummed I was late getting stuck in traffic on the 101, you know how that goes, but it was good just watching the Bruins practice since I'm not around campus too much and I just wanted to show them that I am still interested in the Bruins and that I'm not fading away from them.

"I got a chance to see Coach Rick Neuheisel and you can tell I'm an important factor," Riley said. "When he (Neuheisel) sees me, he just lightens up and gets excited.

"As I was getting to leave yesterday walking to the parking lot, I don't know who they were, but two coaches, on the staff I believe, I don't really know," Riley said. "They yelled to Coach Chow (UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow), because Coach Chow was leaving, we have Dietrich Riley over here and Coach Chow sprinted over to me.

"Coach Chow said, 'I have been looking for you after the scrimmage," Riley said. "He just said he was excited to see me and we talked for awhile. He was telling me what the things the offense did well or need to improve on and he was basically just excited to see me. It was great seeing Coach Chow."
