Mullen's Monday press conference
After two weeks on the road in the Southeastern Conference, Mississippi State will return home for a showdown with No. 7 LSU at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday.
The Bulldogs enter their first SEC home game at 2-1 overall and 1-1 inside the league and head coach Dan Mullen is looking forward to squaring off against a ranked opponent.
"We are excited about a big game this week in Starkville," Mullen said. "We can come back home and it's good to be back in front of our students and play in front of our fans. Hopefully we are going to see everybody dressed in white because we are having a whiteout game and we can see a great atmosphere. You get up early, get to the game and obviously when you get to play a team ranked in the Top 10 you are going to have your hands full."
LSU comes into the contest at 1-0 in the conference and 3-0 overall. Mullen has been impressive the Tigers offense that is averaging 28.3 points and 325.7 yards per game.
"They are loaded with NFL players and five-star recruits across the board," Mullen said. "You look at the past four years and they are just full of five-star recruits on their team. I think they have a big, physical offensive line with some very talented, experienced running backs that are a great combination. They have one of the fastest guys in the world in Trindon Holliday. In Keiland Williams they have a great all-around running back then in Charles Scott they have a big power back. They can pound away at you and then on the outside it's all five-star wide receivers and NFL wide receivers standing out there on the field. They have a lot of weapons on offense that they can go to."
Sophomore quarterback Jordan Jefferson has connected on 64.4 percent on his passes for 475 yards with five touchdowns and one interception this season.
