Cascia Hall home to more than just wins
TULSA - Over the past few years perhaps no program in the state has been more steady, and unappreciated, as Cascia Hall. Year after year Joe Medina's program produces some of the state's toughest and most rugged teams and for two straight years this mentality has led the Commandoes to state titles; 2A in 2007, 3A in 2008.
However with the loss of several key components following the 2008 title, including quarterback Sam Clancy, it seemed this might be a rebuilding year for Medina and co.
Whether or not the team currently ranked No. 1 in the state will find their way to a third straight gold ball is unclear but one thing that is not in doubt is that Medina has the first division one prospect at the program in quite some time.
That player comes in the form of talented sophomore linebacker/tight end Conner Sherwood.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound prospect played for the Commandoes during their second state title run as just a freshman, his performance was such that in a pre-season poll in the Tulsa World Sherwood was named the city's second best linebacker prior to ever stepping onto the field as a sophomore.
With names like Jarrett Lake, Trent Martin, Terry Williamson, Derrick Alexander and many others around the area the praise was large indeed.
