Onyeali visiting Orange

Denver (CO) Mullen defensive dynamo Nduka Onyeali has trimmed his list of schools and is about to take his first visit. The first trip will take him to the northeast as he will be on the campus of Syracuse University this weekend.

Onyeali, 6-foot-1, 240 pounds is excited to get his visits underway and he has a few things he will be focused on during the trip.

"Yes I am really looking forward to my visits," Onyeali said. "I will be looking at the area along with meeting the coaches.

"I expect it to be a great visit to Syracuse I really do. I am just looking to get to know the coaches the best that I can and try to enjoy myself while I am out there,"

On his trip to Syracuse though Onyeali will not be alone as he will travel with his teammate and Orange commitment Jonny Miller. The Mullen quarterback [Miller] is always in the ear of Onyeali telling him about the Orange, but this week Miller was a little more amped than usual.

"Yeah [he is really getting up for the trip]" Onyeali said with a laugh. "He is just blowing it up. He said we are going to have a great time up there."

What kinds of things does Miller focus on when he talks with his teammate about Syracuse?

"The coaches and the environment he likes both of them. He is always talking about how great the coaches are and then he is always talking about how good of a place Syracuse is."

Despite being so far from Syracuse the three star defensive prospect has watched Syracuse play on TV. The game he did watch was the opener when Syracuse fell in a heart breaker to Minnesota. Even though the Orange did not come away victorious he was pleased by what he saw.

"I watched their first game against Minnesota on ESPN. I thought the defense did ok, I was expecting Minnesota's offense to do a lot, but I thought they held them pretty well."

Is the Orange defense a defense that Onyeali can see himself playing for? The answer for that was short and to the point.

"Yes I can."

With a lot of positives going the way of the Orange could a weekend commitment be possible?

"I do not think I will. I really am going to try and see all of the schools before I commit."

Those other visits have been scheduled for the weeks to come.

"I am going to Minnesota, TCU, and Arizona State besides Syracuse."

One item that Syracuse has that the other schools do not is Jonny Miller. In July when CuseConfidential spoke with Onyeali he said if it were to come down to another school and Syracuse he would pick the Orange because of Miller. That statement might not be the same today.

"It is definitely a plus [that Jonny Miller is there] but, I don't know about that for sure."

When it does come time to decide Onyeali has a time frame set in his mind.

"I would like to deicide either before playoffs or after playoffs."

This season has started out well for Mullen as they are 4-0 and Onyeali is off to a great start.

"I have nine sacks and thirty something tackles."
