Power rankings: James moves back on top

Texas senior forward Damion James blamed himself for the Longhorns' 80-77 overtime loss to Baylor. He probably had a hard time finding anyone to agree with him.

James scored 20 points and pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds in Saturday's game before fouling out in the final minute of overtime. The performance might not have earned Texas a win, but it did allow James to regain his status as the No. 1 power forward in the Rivals.com College Basketball Power Rankings, which measure the nation's top performers at each position.

"The turnovers hurt us toward the end," James said after the game. "It's my fault. I've just got to be a better leader of this team."

Earlier in the week, James set a Big 12 record by compiling his 49th career double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds in a 95-83 victory over Texas Tech. He added one more double-double against Baylor.

Those two big efforts allowed James to move ahead of Notre Dame's Luke Harangody in the power forward rankings. Harangody scored 19 points but shot just 8-for-26 Saturday in a 74-73 loss to Rutgers.

James' move represented the only change at the top of the power rankings. Kentucky point guard John Wall, Oklahoma State shooting guard James Anderson, Ohio State small forward Evan Turner, Georgetown center Greg Monroe and Michigan State coach Tom Izzo stayed atop their respective positions. Wall also remained the nation's top freshman.

The current rankings considered performances through Sunday's games. The rankings measure overall career performances as well as the results of the past week.
