Breakdown: UW vs. Michigan

Wisconsin is fresh off a somewhat lopsided win over Penn State Sunday afternoon. Now, with three of its next four on the road, post season seeding will be on the line, starting at Michigan.

Before tonight's tip-off, BadgerBlitz.com analyzes the potential matchups between Wisconsin and Michigan to provide a closer look at UW's conference opener.

Quick Notes:

-When asked how well Michigan was playing earlier in the week, Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan said "they'll be the best team in the country all week, including Wednesday night." For those that don't know, Ryan has the same approach in regards to every team.

-UW is currently 3-5 on the road this season. Three of he final four games for the Badgers are on the road.

-Jordan Taylor leads the nation with a 4.14 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Michigan vs. Wisconsin
Michigan Wisconsin Players The Word Advantage
Darius Morris vs. Jordan Taylor, PG This will be a fun matchup to watch because it features one of the best guards in the Big Ten (Taylor) and a guard starting to make his way in the league (Morris). Over the past number of games Taylor has been face-guarded much more than he had earlier in the season. How he holds up will go a long way in determining UW's success. Morris, on the other hand, can really bring it offensively. Stopping him will be crucial. Advantage: Wisconsin
Zack Novak vs. Josh Gasser, G Gasser has scored 11 points in two of UW's past three games. He is starting to emerge as a legitimate and reliable fourth scoring option for this team. Against Michigan, though, his defense against the Wolverine's sharpshooter will be of the utmost importance. As will improving on his 33 percent shooting clip on the road. Advantage: Push
Tim Hardaway Jr. vs. Tim Jarmusz F Hardaway proved in the first meeting how explosive he is. He's a guard that can get to the rim without much issue. His jumper may not be the most finished product, but it seems to be improving. Jarmusz, on the other hand, seems to be playing with a fair amount of confidence. For UW to win on the road, any made shots Jarmusz has will go a long way in helping. Advantage: Push
Evan Smotrycz vs. Jon Leuer G/F When asked if Chrisler Arena has a soft spot in his heart after bursting onto the scene there as a freshman, Leuer simply said he was disappointed he didn't get to play there last year. He also said he likes the backdrop, the balls and the rims inside the arena. Maybe he'll continue his 22.5 points per game average over the past two games in Ann Arbor. Advantage: Wisconsin
Jordan Morgan vs. Keaton Nankivil, C If Penn State did anything with it's porous defense on Nankivil Sunday it would start with laying a blueprint for opposing teams. Then again, as one of the premier perimeter shooters in the league, that wrap has been out on Nankivil for years. Knowing he's capable of shooting well and stopping it are two totally different things. Advantage: Wisconsin
Stu Douglass (pictured), Matt Vogrich, Jon Horford, Blake McLimans, Colton Christian vs. Ryan Evans (pictured), Rob Wilson, Jared Berggren, Mike Bruesewitz, Ben Brust, Brett Valentyn, Bench Bruesewitz missed Monday's practice with the flu so it will be interesting to see if that affects his playing time tonight. For Wisconsin, guys like Evans, Wilson and potentially Berggren will be huge. As we start getting later into the season it will become more important for the role players to solidify their role in what may be a smaller post-season rotation. Advantage: Wisconsin
John Beilein vs. Bo Ryan, Head coach Beilein hasn't beat Ryan in nine straight tries. If it were to happen, it would make sense for it to come at Michigan's place. Still, looking at past and recent meetings, it just seems UW has all the favorable matchups in this one. And for whatever reason, UW shoots really well inside Crisler. Advantage: Wisconsin
