Offers roll in for Croom

As the calender creeps closer to summer, Norcross (Ga.) junior Jason Croom continues to see his offer list increase. Recently adding an offer from Louisville, the 6-foot-5 and 215-pound receiver has already attracted the likes of several BCS programs.

Among those offers include Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, Illinois, Louisville, Southern Miss and Memphis.

"It is pretty special and I never thought I would be in this position when I was growing up in Detroit," said Croom, who had 30 catches for 506 yards and four touchdowns last year. "But I appreciate the opportunities I've gotten since I moved (to Norcross) and I am using them as motivation."

This spring Croom is carrying that motivation over to the practice fields where he seeks to improve his skills in spring drills.

"The main thing this spring is to get better at getting in and out of my breaks," said Croom. "I want to keep working on my routes and my hands. My blocking is pretty good right now but there is always room for improvement. But my main specific thing is getting out of my breaks better and reaching my maximum speed in those breaks."

Croom also expects to be observed this spring by numerous college programs, some that have already offered and others that are showing high interest.

"I've had a few school saying they were coming to see us practice," said Croom. "The ones I know for sure are LSU, Clemson, Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn and Oregon. So that should be a lot of fun. I talk to a lot of those schools but I probably talk with Coach (Angelo) Mirando from Mississippi State the most."

For now, Croom said he hopes to check out some schools this spring and summer. Adding he wasn't close to making a decision, finding time to make those visits has been hard thus far.

"I was playing AAU basketball but I am not doing that any more," said Croom. "But I am playing in our summer basketball league with our high school. I want to try to visit some schools but I hardly have any free Saturdays. I know I will play in a lot of passing leagues this summer but not sure how many camps I will attend."
