Ledo thinks he's a UK priority

AKRON, Ohio - Five-star shooting guard Ricardo Ledo doesn't claim any favorite schools in his recruitment, but Kentucky was the first team he mentioned among those showing him interest and said he'd like to visit Lexington.

Ledo, a 6-foot-5 player for Notre Dame Prep school in Massachusetts, said on Thursday afternoon said that he's unsure which schools would be evaluating him the most closely this month, but he listed several possibilities.

"Right now I don't really know, but basically it's like Kentucky, Providence, UConn," said Ledo, a former Providence commitment. "I'd say Florida, Arizona, Texas. A number of schools, Syracuse."

Ledo said he has never spoken on the phone with UK head coach John Calipari but that Wildcats assistant Orlando Antigua emailed him "like within the last week or two."

The email said, "just 'how am I doing?' and that he can't wait to see me out here."

UK assistant coach Kenny Payne was at the University of Akron on Thursday afternoon watching games and workouts. Calipari tweeted on Wednesday night that he'd be heading to the LeBron camp after leaving the adidas Invitational in Indianapolis, where he remained early Thursday.

UK is recruiting some of the nation's elite wing players, including Las Vegas' Shabazz Muhammad and Arkansas' Archie Goodwin.

When asked whether he feels like he is a priority for UK, Ledo said, "Yeah, I'm one of the top scoring guards in the country, so I think I am."

When asked whether he has an offer from UK, Ledo quickly responded, "Yeah."

Ledo said he's never visited UK but would like to.

"Yeah, it'll be a place I want to visit," he said.

Ledo said he has no timeframe for a final college decision but said he plans to take all five of his allotted official visits.
