Kyle Kalis commits to Michigan

Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward four-star standout offensive lineman Kyle Kalis ended speculation about his recruitment and committed to Michigan Sunday afternoon, becoming U-M's 19th pledge from the class of 2012.

Rivals.com's No. 18 prospect nationally and No. 4 offensive tackle prospect traveled to Ann Arbor with family, his second trip in two weekends. The 6-5, 302-pounder had been an Ohio State commitment before opening things up following head coach Jim Tressel's resignation. He told TheWolverine.com Sunday he'd made it official.

Kalis started leaning toward the Wolverines following his first visit, which he called "awesome." He de-committed from the Buckeyes June 21 and joins what's becoming one of the top offensive line hauls in Michigan history. In addition to Kalis, the Wolverines have received pledges from Nashville (Tenn.) four-star Blake Bars, Rockford (Mich.) three-star Ben Braden, Cincinnati (Ohio) three-star guard/center Caleb Stacey and four-star (and Rivals.com No. 34 player nationally) Erik Magnuson.

The Wolverines will likely take one more lineman, as well, and have several highly rated options still on the board. They include Chicago four-star Jordan Diamond, Lakewood (Wash.) four-star Zach Banner, Puyallup (Wash.) four-star Joshua Garnett, Pittsburgh four-star Adam Bisnowaty and Tempe (Ariz.) five-star Andrus Peat. Banner and Garnett are planning fall official visits.

Chances are Michigan will land one of these prospects, giving U-M one of the nation's top offensive line hauls.

Kalis' addition also gives U-M even more momentum in the state of Ohio, an area head coach Brady Hoke said would be a priority (along with Michigan). The Wolverines have pledges from four-star linebacker Joe Bolden, four-star defensive end Pharaoh Brown, three-star defensive back Allen Gant, three-star linebacker Kaleb Ringer, four-star defensive end Tom Strobel, three-star tight end A.J. Williams, four-star safety Jarrod Wilson and Stacey in addition to Kalis and remain involved with other highly touted Ohioans.

Kalis was the top-ranked player of 400 kids at last summer's Ohio State camp.
