Busy week for Fenton
Travonte Fenton enjoyed a rare break last week concerning his summer schedule. But things will pick up tremendously this week for the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Fenton.Oak Grove (Miss.) defensive back
"We had an off week last week with no workouts at the school," said Fenton. "But then I went to Alabama on Sunday and that starts off a pretty busy week. I am going to Mississippi State for their Big Dawg Camp and then I am also going to Ole Miss and Florida State. So yeah, it's a big week and a busy week."
Fenton, who holds offers from Southern Miss and Arkansas State, attended an MSU camp earlier this summer. However, midway through camp drills he "tweaked" an ankle and had to sit out the remainder of camp
"I am doing good now and I made it back fast," said Fenton. "I don't like sitting out and I always want to stay active. I just tweaked my ankle and I have no problems now and I look forward to producing at these camps. I want to have a better camp at Mississippi State and I will be healthy now. I talked to Coach Tony Hughes and he said they look forward to having me up there. They feel I could play either safety or cornerback so I look forward to seeing how things go there."
Fenton added that he is also hearing from other schools of late, too.
"I have been hearing a lot from Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida State, Tulane and UAB," said Fenton. "Some of those schools want to see how I move around at camp and see where I might fit in. They just want to see me before deciding to offer me or not."
And of those schools recruiting him, Fenton noted of several schools he was looking at the most.
"I am looking at Ole Miss and Florida State hard," said Fenton. "I liked it when I went down to Florida State for their junior day and spring game. I saw a lot of positive energy down there and it was full of hype. I like Ole Miss and it is closer to home and in the state and I will probably stay close to home or in the state for college.
"I also like Southern Miss and Mississippi State. I am not sure if Mississippi State will offer me and if they do it could change things up. Southern Miss has offered me and I know their coaches well and it is close to home."
Before he makes his decision, Fenton said he will wait to see what offers he collects in the near future.
"I am just waiting to see how it works out and who else offers," said Fenton. "I am not looking to make an early commitment and I don't want to back out of anything. So I want to make sure of my decision when I decide and it will be my final decision."
