Ryan Aplin is ready to win

The on-field general of the Arkansas State Red Wolves is none other than junior quarterback Ryan Aplin.

The First Team All-Sun Belt quarterback broke the single season passing record at Arkansas State after amassing 3, 416 total yards of offense. 2,939 of those yards were passing yards, which included 21 passing touchdowns.

His 61.5% passing percentage is the second highest in school history.

Despite the big numbers last season, Aplin has his eyes set on bigger goals this season, and he sat down with RedWolfReport.com to discuss them.

"I think our goal is just to win," said Aplin. "Records are cool, but our biggest thing is to just go out and win. We want that win column to be high, and we want to be Sun Belt Champions and go to a bowl game, that is all I am really worried about."

He also spoke about the amount of home games the Red Wolves have this year, and spoke about taking care of business at home.

"Having that many games at home is just awesome," said Aplin. "We love playing in front of our fans. They bring in a great atmosphere, and it gives you a different feeling when you play at home. If you are down by three points, and you are driving and need that touchdown to go up, it makes it that much easier to get those points when you know your fans are behind you and helping to push you down the field and ultimately to a win."

While there are no teams in particular that he wants to earn a lopsided victory in, Aplin states that he wants to put the hammer down on every conference foe on the schedule.

"I just want to take it to everyone in the conference," said Aplin. "I just want to win every game. Every chance we get to play, we want to play our best and put as many points up as possible. "

"If there is one team the fans want us to take out big, it would be Troy," said Aplin. "They have been on top for a while and everyone is after them. You can't go to sleep on teams like Western Kentucky either. We did last year and they got us, so you have to just go out each and every game and give it your all."

He also spoke about the change in attitude and demeanor since Hugh Freeze has taken over as head coach.

"The attitude has without a doubt changed," said Aplin. "We are not going to want to come out and win by just two or three points, we want to come out and win by as much as possible. We know that as long as we put up the points, then our defense is going to do their job and help seal the deal. We know the defense will be there to help us out."
