Isaacs takes in Boston College opener

It was the first college football game Andrew Isaacs ever attended and it was definitely a memorable experience as the Manchester, Conn., tight end watched the Boston College-Northwestern game on Saturday.

The 2013 prospect showed up a little late but other than that Isaacs got the complete experience which included quick chats with assistant coach Mike Siravo, athletic director Gene DeFilippo and others before the game.

Even though the Eagles lost their season opener Isaacs said it was a great experience as his recruitment continues.

"We got there kind of late so we didn't get to eat breakfast so we went right to the field and we watched a little of their pre-game stuff," Isaacs said.

"I talked quickly to coach Siravo and I talked to the AD again and after that we went to our seats with the other recruits and we watched the game. At halftime we went into the athletic center and then we watched the rest of the game.

"It was good. There weren't as many people as I thought there was going to be but it was a good atmosphere. It was a really good vibe and I liked how everything went. I liked all of it there."

Since that was his first college football game, Isaacs wants to compare other schools so Monday he's expected to attend the Miami-Maryland game. No other unofficial trips are planned for this fall but Isaacs, who was at UConn for its spring game, could go other places.

One of the top 2013 prospects in the Northeast, Isaacs said he's started to see his recruitment pick up since Sept. 1 when college coaches can contact him. So far, Boston College and Connecticut have offered.

He said Miami, Florida and Arkansas have all been showing more interest and he wants to do research on all those programs. Manchester opens its season on Sept. 17 against West Hartford (Conn.) Hall.
