Junior DE excited for his BC visit

Defensive end Andrew Bartolomei of Norcross (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian came into this season as a bit of a mystery, but over the last two months he has definitely developed himself into a prospect to keep an eye on. When the opportunity arises, Bartolomei has also hit the road for a few visits and will do so again in November to check out Boston College in person.

"I'm getting pretty consistent letters from Michigan State, N.C. State and BC, and Georgia Tech was at the school recently, so I had a chance to meet with Coach McCollum briefly," said Bartolomei, who is 6-foot-5 and 255-pounds.

Bartolomei has made it a point to hit the road this fall to check out several schools and will continue to do so.

"We went to go see Clemson play BC, and we stopped by the campuses of Furman and Wofford while we were there," said Bartolomei. "We are scheduled to fly to Boston for the BC/N.C. State game on November 12th and hopefully I'll be on the list for the Georgia/Georgia Tech game on November 26th."

Bartolomei was asked to discuss his upcoming visit to Boston College.

"I'm not sure what they have scheduled, but I look forward to touring the campus, meeting some of the coaches and getting familiar with the Boston area," said Bartolomei, who is not a stranger to Massachusetts. "My grandparents and other relatives live 45 minutes outside of Boston so I've been there several times."

Recruiting Bartolomei for BC has been Coach Siravo.

"He has been very nice and doing a good job of keeping me in the loop," said Bartolomei.

The junior has maintained a busy schedule amidst a season that is off to a very successful start.

"The season is off to a great start," said Bartolomei. "We are 7-0 and play our region rivals, #1 ranked Buford, this Friday. "Chase Roberts has a little injury, which has allowed me to start both ways for the past couple of weeks."

While playing both ways may be new to Bartolomei, he has made a smooth transition.

"Against Decatur I was mentioned in the Atlanta Journal Constitution for 10 tackles on defense and a 85% blocking grade on offense," said Bartolomei. "Last week I only played three series because we were up four touchdowns in the first quarter."

Bartolomei's off-season preparation has made the additional workload go very smoothly.

"The biggest improvement is in my size and strength," said Bartolomei. "Last year I played the same position at 215-pounds and now I'm 255-pounds."
