Hot 11: Illinois

MADISON - Wisconsin won its third game in a row with a 28-17 win over Minnesota Saturday afternoon. In doing so UW improved its record to 9-2. It's time for our popular weekly feature: The Hot 11.

The 10th installment of the 2011 regular season is based on momentum and individual play this season. One bad game won't necessarily move a player off, but it could cause a player to slide down the board as new players start to emerge.

By no means is the list perfect, that is why BadgerBlitz.com encourages everyone to head over to The Badgers' Den to offer their own opinions.

BadgerBlitz.com Hot 11
Rank Player The Word Last Game
1 Montee Ball, RB Whenever Ball sets a new career high, especially at this stage in his career, it's apparent he's had a pretty good game. His 224 yards and 38 carries helped UW overcome an early deficit. 1
2 Chris Borland, MLB Borland forced the fumble that opened the floodgates for UW's defense in the second half. Aside from that notion he led the team with 16 tackles, including 1.5 for loss. 4
3 Russell Wilson, QB Wilson didn't have that many stats against Illinois, but he managed the game enough to guide UW to victory. 2
4 Mike Taylor, OLB Taylor and Borland continue to battle for the Big Ten tackling lead. Borland made up some ground on Taylor at Illinois, but 13 tackles for the junior linebacker isn't anything to hang his head about. 3
5 Antonio Fenelus, CB A.J. Jenkins caught one pass during Saturday's game against UW with Fenelus on him. He's got to be polishing a resume that will land him on 1st-Team All-Big Ten. 5
6 Nick Toon WR Jared Abbrederis was still impacted by his shoulder injury. It was important for Toon to step up and that's exactly what he did. He caught six of Wilson's 10 passes. 7
7 Kevin Zeitler, RG Ball had most of his success running to the right side of the line, particularly when the left side of it was in flux. That's a credit to Zeitler. 8
8 Travis Frederick, Frederick admitted he hadn't played his best game at left guard during the first half of Saturday's game. But the way he seamlessly moved to center after Ryan Groy had some struggles was impressive. N/A
9 Aaron Henry, FS Henry might have played his best game as a Badger during Saturday's win. The way he chopped down a reverse that appeared to have big play potential was truly impressive. 10
10 Bradie Ewing, FB Ewing never gets the type of recognition he deserves. He continually does the dirty work, he helps Ball do what he does and he enjoys every second of it. UW will definitely miss Ewing when his time at UW is done. N/A
11 Shelton Johnson, SS Johnson has had his fair share of ups and downs throughout the season. He's had flashes of greatness and flashes of inexperience. The way he jumped that fourth-quarter pass and the way he intercepted it was a thing of beauty. N/A
