Facing a 1-3-1 zone defense, which U-M coach John Beilein praised extensively, the Wolverines were forced to bomb away from three-point range, shooting a season-high 38. The eight weekend commitments included four offensive linemen: Parker (Colo.) Ponderosa tackle Chris Fox (No. 46 prospect nationally), Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis guard Kyle Bosch (No. 60), Peoria (Ill.) Manual tackle Logan Tuley-Tillman (No. 109), and Detroit Cass Tech guard David Dawson (No. 199). All cited the quality of Michigan's coaching staff -- as coaches and people -- in their rationale for committing.

Gilman (Md.) quarterback Shane Cockerille had been sitting on a single offer from Maryland for the last five months, but in the past few days he's seen his recruiting ratchet up a couple notches. On Thursday the 6-foot-2, 205-pound dual-threat southpaw pulled in a verbal from Temple, and over the weekend his coach told him he had an offer from Michigan.

Michigan's exceptional weekend on the recruiting trail -- during which they picked up eight commitments within the Rivals.com top 250 for the 2013 class -- has laid the foundation for a second-consecutive excellent class. However, as much as national championships aren't guaranteed with excellent recruiting, a great recruiting class isn't finished 11 months prior to signing day, either.
