The Twitter hashtag "#MMBtoDallas" began gaining heavy traction Thursday night in the wake of the news that Michigan has no plans to bring its marching band to Texas in September when the Michigan football team opens the 2012 season against defending national champion Alabama in the "Cowboys Classic."

A national writer raised eyebrows recently when he compared Michigan head coach John Beilein's transfer "policy" to that of Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan. For those who missed it, Ryan initially gave forward Jarrod Uthoff permission to transfer, but limited his schools to those outside the Big Ten and ACC as well as Marquette, Iowa State and Florida.
