Bryant to miss the year, Ringer to redshirt due to injuries
Another member of Michigan's freshman class will miss significant time with an injury. Days after defensive lineman Chris Wormley was lost for the season with a torn ACL, linebacker Kaleb Ringer suffered his own knee injury and will redshirt in 2012.
Redshirt freshman offensive guard Chris Bryant, meanwhile, will miss the season after fracturing his tibia in practice.
Ringer had been working out at both the middle and weakside linebacker positions after enrolling in the spring. Though not mentioned as a likely contributor in the two-deep, he was expected to battle for playing time. Freshmen James Ross, Joe Bolden and Royce Jenkins-Stone are competing with veterans Kenny Demens and Desmond Morgan at the two positions.
Bryant's loss weakens depth at a position the Wolverines can least afford. The physical lineman had been backing up fifth-year senior Patrick Omameh at right guard before going down and will use the year to rehab in preparation for next season.
