Klein reinstated, suspended for at least two games

More than after a month after he was dismissed from the Buckeyes' football team following an arrest for domestic violence, Storm Klein was reinstated to the team by head coach Urban Meyer, Ohio State confirmed on Thursday. The linebacker will, however, be suspended for a minimum of two games.

Charged with domestic violence in July after an alleged altercation with the mother of his child, Klein pled guilty on Wednesday to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct. The charge that the Newark, Ohio native ultimately pled guilty to is classified as a misdemeanor.

A day after the alleged incident took place, Klein was dismissed by Meyer for what he claimed was a violation of the "the core values of the Ohio State football program." The first-year Ohio State coach did, however, leave the door open for Klein to return if there was a change in his charges.

"As I had indicated previously, if there are any changes in the charges against Storm, I would re-evaluate his status," Meyer said. "The charges that would have violated our core values have been totally dismissed. I have spoken extensively to members of both families and that has prompted me to re-assess his situation and allow him back."

Meyer's decision to re-evaluate the Licking Valley high school product's status paid off for Klein, who started in 10 games at middle linebacker for the Buckeyes a season ago. After spending most of spring camp dealing with minor injuries, he was expected to enter fall camp as Ohio State's second-string middle linebacker, behind sophomore Curtis Grant.

Entering his senior season, Klein has recorded 73 tackles over the course of his college career. At the earliest, he will be permitted to play in Ohio State's third game of the season, when the Buckeyes will take on California.
