Though it hasn't shown in the win column for Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said he sees the makings of a good team.

With a number of juniors and seniors starting for the Panthers, Beamer said he chalks up the slow, 0-2 start to getting adjusted to new coach Paul Chryst. It's a situation that's made Beamer thankful for the continuity in his staff.

On the field, a few Hokies' status is still up in the air whether or not they'll continue to see the field against Pittsburgh.

Beamer said his staff has decided to redshirt true freshman running back Trey Edmunds, while the status of center Andrew Miller is uncertain after he limped around Saturday against Austin Peay.

But two players who might see increased roles are true freshman running back J.C. Coleman and redshirt freshman wide receiver Demitri Knowles.

Beamer addressed these topics and others in his weekly press conference today, with HokieHaven.com and the media.
