Five-star freshman cleared to play

UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero announced on Wednesday afternoon that five-star guard / forward Kyle Anderson has been cleared by the NCAA and will play for UCLA this season.

"UCLA was informed by the NCAA earlier today that freshman guard Kyle Anderson is eligible to play this season," Guerrero said in a statement, "and that the NCAA has found no evidence to substantiate claims of violations in his case."

Anderson was reportedly being investigated for his father's relationship with an NBA agent who now works for an agency founded by prominent UCLA alumnus Casey Wasserman.

He has been cleared of any wrongdoing, however, and should be ready to go for the Bruins when they open the season on Nov. 9.

"I am grateful to all those who were involved in the process," Guerrero said. "We are looking forward to opening our season on November 9 against Indiana State at New Pauley Pavilion."

UCLA now has three of its big four 2012 recruits eligible, but the one that still looms large is five-star, No. 1-ranked Shabazz Muhammad.

He's reportedly being investigated for improper benefits, which allegedly included paid-for unofficial visits to Duke and North Carolina.

When news broke that Anderson had been cleared, Muhammad fired off this tweet:

There is no set timetable for the Muhammad decision.
