Hoops Video & More: U-M watching '14 Edmond Sumner
Edmond Sumner is one who has received more interest in recent weeks. With Keita Bates-Diop and Jae'sean Tate off the table, Michigan coaches continue to look at other prospects in the class of 2014. Detroit Country Day point guard
Country Day has a history of being one of the top programs in the state of Michigan, and Sumner appears to be the next great talent to come out of the program, Rivals.com's Alex Kline of TheRecruitScoop.com reported recently.
"The 2014 6-foot-3 point guard is following in the long line of talented prospects to come out of the program, including Austin Price, Ray McCallum, Amir Williams and others," Kline wrote. "The extremely quick floor general snuck in a number of unofficial visits during the fall."
Those included UMass, Xavier, Michigan, Michigan State, Toledo and Kent State. Sumner hopes to see Michigan and Michigan State games soon and also wants to take a look at the campuses of Wake Forest, Minnesota and Iowa.
Sumner is now Rivals.com's No. 91 prospect in the Rivals150. He hopes to improve his shooting range in preparation for the next level.
"It's not really pressure, it's just I know that every game somebody is going to challenge me, so I have to prove I am the best," Sumner told Next Level Sports Video"
Sumner denied leaning toward one school, though he has said UMass was recruiting him the hardest. That could change if he continues to play as well as he has recently.
