QB Trent Steelman Chosen For East-West Shrine Game
Trent Steelman has one more game left in his storied career as the Black Knights' signal caller has been chosen to participate in the 2013 East-West Shrine Game. The annual contest featuring college all-stars from across the nation will be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan. 19, 2013.TAMPA, Fla. - Army senior quarterback
Steelman rushed for 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, tying the Academy's single-season record for rushing TDs. The Bowling Green, Ky., native finished his prodigious career as Army's record-holder in rushing touchdowns (45) and he will graduate as the Black Knights' all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback (3,320 yards).
The 2013 edition of the East-West Shrine Game will be the 12th consecutive contest featuring an Army player.
Linebacker Steven Erzinger represented the Black Knights in the 2012 game, while defensive end Josh McNary appeared in the 2011 contest.
Since 1925, the East-West Shrine Game has matched the best college football players from the East and West sides of the United States against one another in an all-star game played to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
