Tim Hardaway, Jr. wins Big Ten Player Of The Week
The Michigan basketball team made a statement last Thursday, blitzing into Minneapolis and soundly beating then-No. 8 Minnesota, 83-75.
The Wolverines had plenty of highlight reel-worthy play, like freshman Glenn Robinson III's 360-degree dunk, but no player impacted the game quite like junior guard Tim Hardaway, Jr.
Hardaway got to work early and often, going an incredible 7-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, to lead the Wolverines to the big road win. He scored a game-high 21 points.
For his efforts in the win, Hardaway earned Big Ten Player Of The Week honors.
Hardaway also showed his versatility, adding five rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, including a critical one with less than two minutes to go which ostensibly ended the Golden Gophers' hopes of a comeback.
Hardaway is averaging 16.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this season, all career bests. He is also on pace for career bests in field goal percentage (48.5) and three-point percentage (39.3).
This marks Michigan's ninth conference award of the season. Hardaway and sophomore point guard Trey Burke have each won two Big Ten Player Of The Week Honors. The Wolverines have cleaned up on the Big Ten Freshman Of The Week award: guard Nik Stauskas has won three and Robinson and Mitch McGary each have one.
