Jayru Campbell paying attention to Michigan

It's no secret now that Detroit Cass Tech has produced a plethora of Division 1 prospects the past six years. 25 Technicians have signed Division-1 scholarships since 2008, and the 2014 class already has two Big Ten-bound players in cornerback Damon Webb (Ohio State) and Deon Drake (Michigan State).

Cass Tech has built a reputation as the city's greatest producer of talent, and the sophomore and junior classes aren't lacking any talent, either. 2015 quarterback Jayru Campbell is a star on the rise, and the 6-3, 190-pound Campbell led his team to a second straight state title this past season, beating perennial power Detroit Catholic Central for the second consecutive year.

Campbell's on-field exploits have earned offers from Eastern Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Michigan State. He has not yet received an offer yet from Michigan, but would be willing to listen should the Wolverines come calling.

"I would like to have an offer from Michigan, but I guess they want to see my development," Campbell said. "I believe Mike [Weber] and I will attend the same school, but if not probably the same conference".

Michigan has already offered Weber, Campbell's 2015 classmate at Cass Tech and a running back who notched over 1,700 yards as a sophomore. The Wolverines have also extended a scholarship offer to 2015 offensive/defensive lineman Joshua Alabi. U-M loves to recruit Cass Tech, evidenced by ten Technicians signing with the in-state program since the 2008 class.

However, Campbell isn't simply waiting around for Michigan. In addition to his four current scholarship offers, he has plenty of other schools showing interest.

"Ohio State has been recruiting me a lot, and I have serious interest from UCLA, LSU, Florida, and Miami," he said.

Campbell has no planned campus visits, but will attend the Adidas Invitational at Grand Valley State March 24. The event is hosted by the Maximum Exposure 7-on-7 group, of which Campbell is a member.
